Cosmoknights by Hannah Templer

β€œThey don’t need ‘rescuing’. Princesses can take care of ’emselves!”

Ripped lesbians in giant mech suits fighting the patriarchy. Need I say more?

Cosmoknights is a fun and beautifully illustrated graphic novel that turns traditional gender roles on their heads. The story follows Pan, a girl from a small planet who dreams of doing more than working at her father’s spacecraft repair shop, as she finally embarks on the adventure she has been waiting for.

In this universe, princesses from each planet are offered up as the prize in battle royale tournaments throughout the galaxy. Knights in giant mech suits fight to claim the princess for whatever royal family is sponsoring them.

As you might have guessed, this practice does not sit well with more than a few women, and they have decided that it is time to fight back. (Can we talk about how many “advanced” societies in science fiction seem to have advanced in every way except sexism, racism, and classism though? Like, come on, y’all figured out faster-than-light travel… I expect more from you.)

I highly recommend this if you need a dose of space gays in your life (who doesn’t?).

The best part: Cosmoknights is free to read on the website! Of course, you can also pick up a physical copy if that is your jam. I would definitely love to show off the gorgeous artwork on my coffee table.
